Alex Landauer
Alex’s background is in mechanical engineering. He graduated from Clarkson University (ME with Honors) in 2014, with research in orthopedic biomechanics and nanoindentation under Laurel Kuxhaus and Philip Yuya. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Solid Mechanics at Brown University working with Christian Franck, David Henann, and K.-S. Kim, and a Visiting Scholar at the UW-Madison with Christian Franck.
As an NSF Graduate Research Fellow at Brown, Alex’s primary interests include non-linear deformations in soft elastomers (in particular elastomeric foams) and development of experimental and analysis techniques for investigation of novel material behaviors
